ABOUT THE POSITION:

This examination will establish an Open Competitive and Promotional list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by the Office of Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience: Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science or a field related to the work AND three (3) years of professional experience in inspecting industrial and commercial business establishments and enforcing wastewater discharge and pretreatment regulations, two (2) years of which must be a supervisory or lead role. 

Working Conditions: Work extended shifts or be called back in emergency situations. Work with exposure to hazardous chemicals and substances. Work underground and/or in confined spaces. 

Licensing & Certification:Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License. 

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of inspection and support staff performing industrial waste inspection and code enforcement activities. Recommends selection of staff; trains staff in work procedures and provides for their professional development; administers discipline as required. Assists in planning goals, objectives, procedures and work standards for the division; provides input into the department's budget process. Develops pretreatment monitoring and inspection schedules; performs and variety of complex surveys and inspections to ensure compliance with codes and regulations. Prepares periodic reports regarding discharge compliance and submits such reports to the appropriate regulatory agencies. Initiates and oversees enforcement proceedings; works with legal staff to develop industrial waste enforcement cases; testifies in court as required. Researches commercial and industrial businesses and identifies those which potentially require wastewater pretreatment facilities; contacts representatives of such businesses and explains Water Reclamation District wastewater discharge regulations and permitting requirements. Develops compliance schedules and plans; periodically provides for the re-inspection of establishments for continued compliance with regulations. Reviews spill control and sewer management plans as well as TDS reduction plans and programs. Develops and implements a public notification program and a separate education program for reduction of non-domestic TDS, as well as other related programs for dissemination of information regarding the IPP. Oversees office clerical procedures and data management. Confers with and provides technical assistance to District and County staff and representatives of other local public agencies regarding industrial waste pretreatment matters. Maintains accurate records and files of work performed; prepares a variety of periodic and special reports related to the work of the unit. Maintains current knowledge of wastewater pretreatment and pretreatment methods and techniques; drafts codes and procedures to meet changes needs and requirements. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team. Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work; drives a personal or District motor vehicle in the course of the work.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

Mobility to work in a typical office or business setting use standard office equipment and to drive a motor vehicle in order to reach various inspection sites; strength to lift and carry field equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and stamina to inspect various commercial or industrial properties or other facilities; vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Mona Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

Mona City, Utah is seeking a part-time Utah Grade III wastewater treatment plant operator. The City is currently constructing a 0.5-mgd membrane bioreactor (MBR) wastewater treatment plant along with 70,000 lineal feet of collection system. Operations are scheduled to begin February 2012.  Duties include acting as the chief operator and direct responsible in charge over performance and operation of the treatment plant and collection system. Interested parties are to submit resumes including personal contact information, a brief work history, current or most recent employer, proof of certification in Utah, and references.  Experience operating an MBR system is not required but would be preferred.  Resumes will be accepted 50 West Center St., Mona UT 84645 until November 19, 2011 after which top candidates may be interviewed and terms of employment will be negotiated.

Central Valley Water Reclamation Facility is looking to fill the position of a plant operator.  We are looking for someone who  is ccertified as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I, II, III or IV. Under the direction of DRC assists in monitoring, maintaining & operating plant processes & equipment through the use of sampling, observation & instrumentation. Takes readings & records all gauges, meters & indicators of treatment process. Visually inspects & tests machinery & equipment, listening for unusual or variation in sounds during operation. Records & reports any changes. Keeps plant environment clean. Assists with monitoring elements by following proper sampling & reporting procedures to meet EPA requirements. Monitors HVAC and instrumentation programs & interprets results as required for operations of the control room. Maintains plant security to ensure safety, attends meetings as assigned & training sessions to update skills. Keeps operations records & files current, complete & accurate. Maintains plant appearance by cleaning & providing maintenance assistance & other duties as assigned for odor control, hygienic & safety purposes. Required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls. Requires climbing ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push & pull objects & valves. Works near moving mechanical parts in outside weather conditions & is exposed to wet & humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles & is also exposed to toxic or caustic chemical or disease causing organisms. Must pass drug screen, physical, and background check.
